There is little information available for young women with breast cancer who are faced with early menopause, according to Australian experts who have come up with an information tool to “fill a gap”.
Researchers at the Prince of Wales Hospital in NSW and the Royal Women’s Hospital in Victoria have created an information booklet targeted at young women to address different issues surrounding the menopause which young patients have identified as areas of “unmet information need”.
Writing in the Breast Journal, the authors say the booklet explains the efficacy and safety of available treatment for menopausal symptoms following breast cancer, as well as how menopause may affect a young woman’s health and relationships.
