No cognitive decline with ADT

There is no evidence to suggest that androgen deprivation therapy has an impact on cognitive function in men with prostate cancer, a JCO paper concludes.
The prospective matched cohort study evaluated men with prostate cancer taking ADT, those not taking therapy and a matched group of healthy controls.
At 12-month follow-up all three cohorts had similar cognitive scores. Although immediate memory, working memory and visuospatial ability were worse among the ADT group the magnitude of change in each test was small.
Their results should be ‘reassuring’ to clinicians and their patients, the researchers concluded.
