A fatal medication error in which a US woman was given the antineoplastic drug vincristine intrathecally has sparked a renewed call to eliminate the syringe as a method for vincristine administration.
Peter Gilbar, a senior pharmacist at Toowoomba Hospital wrote a letter to Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery saying syringe administration of vincristine should be replaced by administration through a small-volume intravenous bag.
