Weight-gain linked to prostate cancer

Men who put on 20 kilograms or more in their adult life have nearly double the risk of dying from prostate cancer, new Australian research shows.  The prospective study of over 17,000 men aged 40-69 associated every 5kg of weight gained after age 18 to a 13% increased risk of dying from prostate cancer (CI=1.02-1.26).  Published in the International Journal of Cancer, the results associated weight-gain of 20 kilograms or more in adult life with a 37% increased risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer and an 84% increased risk of dying from prostate cancer, although with wide confidence intervals (CI=1.02-1.83 and CI=1.09-3.09, respectively).  The research addressed an important gap in the literature, co-author Professor Dallas English of the University of Melbourne told...
