The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) is a step closer to construction with the Victorian and Australian governments agreeing on an implementation plan for the $1 billion centre.
The VCCC has been touted as a world-class cancer centre that will accelerate the translation of research into treatment, train cancer specialists and provide a centre of excellence for all Victorians affected by cancer.
The building will house several leading cancer research and clinical institutes, with the majority of the space being used by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
“From Peter Mac’s perspective, we’re excited we’ll be moving to a brand new facility, and one that’s purpose-built for cancer patients, their family and carers needs,” said Peter MacCallum spokeswoman Emma Liepa.
