Call for more radiology funding

comments

The Federal Government is under pressure to halt the decline in funding for cancer patients requiring radiology, and to index, for the first time in 12 years, the Medicare patient rebate for radiology services.
The push is being led by Cancer Voices Australia, the Warwick Foundation and the Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association, following a national day of action on Tuesday.
In a statement, the groups said that the lack of indexing to the cost of living has meant Australians paid $300 million last year to finance the gap between the decreasing Medicare rebate and the rising cost of imaging services.
